Sound Modules and Audio Processing
High-performance MIDI Synthesizer and Effect Processor
The SAM5708B is a member of the SAM5000 family of sound synthesis and audio processing ICs that uses the DSP array technology. The SAM5708B includes eight 24-bit DSPs, a general-purpose 16-bit CPU, a 24-bit Audio Router and a multi-channel audio DMA. The implementation of a sophisticated sample buffering system allows 189-polyphony sound synthesis with large sound banks stored in cost saving memories, typically 512MByte in NOR Flash and up to 8GBytes in NAND Flash. Depending on the memory configuration, the SAM5708B provides up to 16-input/16-output audio channels, and all communication and user interfaces required for supporting a large range of high-end audio applications such as sound module, KTV and professional audio processing.
